Paris Outfits: Fall
If you really want to understand timeless attire, visit Paris in the fall. Parisians have a unique sense of style by combining outfits that are chic yet simple. They go for affordable pieces that last longer and are classy.
Knitwear
An essential part of Paris fall outfits, knit sweaters are definitely a classy addition to your wardrobe. Bonus points if you get a striped one!
With an overlarge/chunky sweater, you can go for a tucked-in look while with a fitting knit, you can keep it tucked-out and style it with cozy denim.
Denim Jeans/Trousers
Flared or straight trousers and denim jeans are surely a part of Parisian attire, and I’m sure you won’t regret taking a couple of jeans and dress pants along. My trusted jeans were an essential part of my everyday outfit when I was in France.
The best part is that you can pair them with sweaters/blazers in the fall and winter, and cotton or silk blouses in the silk and summer!
Blazers/Coats
Lightweight blazers, coats, and jackets are essential if you’re planning a trip to Paris in the fall. Temperatures tend to dip in the fall and it may rain at any time of the day, so it’s better to carry a jacket or blazer with you.
A blazer/coat can also give off a very polished look to your outfit, making it easy for you to easily blend in with the locals.
Dresses
Dresses and Paris fashion go hand-in-hand, especially those black dresses. What fun is it, being in Paris and not going out in a dress? Fall is the perfect time to flaunt your dresses as it’s neither too warm nor cold and you can go all out with dressing up.
I also love how I can style the same dress with a blazer or a trench coat one day and a sweater or scarf the other day!
Footwear
Classy footwear can add so much to your outfit, and if it’s comfortable? Oooh la la!
Paris is full of cobblestoned streets and I’m sure you don’t want throbbing feet at the end of your adventurous day, that’s why ballet flats and booties are my preferred choice in the fall.
They’ll complement your fit right, and your feet will be happy too!
Accessories
Scarf/Beret
A cozy scarf and beret are perfect for days that are chilly and windy. They’ll keep you warm and add a touch of elegance to your attire.
Bags/Purses
A classy crossbody bag/purse will be convenient for carrying your ID, cash, and other important stuff without making you look like a tourist. You can add a dash of color to your outfit with colorful accessories!
Paris Outfits: Winter
Experiencing winter in Paris is a magical adventure that you must not miss out on. Paris isn’t crowded in the winter and you can take your time admiring the city and exploring all the beautiful sites.
Temperatures can be as low as 37 °F (3 °C), so it’s ideal to pack cozy and comfortable outfits that are also stylish.
Blazer/Overcoat
Long blazers, overcoats, and belted coats are a classic addition to your French winter wardrobe. A plus point with coats is that they are versatile. You can pair them with dresses, jeans, trousers, or skirts and they’ll add to the overall look.
For a super cool French look, you can style the coat with a satin button-down shirt or a striped shirt.
Trousers/Jeans
Paris outfits for winter aren’t complete without a pair of fitted dress pants or classy denims. Though jeans may look casual, they make one of the most aesthetic Parisian looks if paired correctly.
Knitwear
I’m always in for a couple of cozy sweaters and luckily snugly fitting sweaters are considered quite fashionable in Paris and you can style them with dresses or trousers depending on your outing.
You can layer it with a button-down and trousers, flaunt it with a skirt, or pair it with a coat and jeans.
Dresses/ Tweed Skirts
Warm dresses and tweed skirts are ideal Paris outfits for winter as they’re warm yet in fashion. You can pair them with fleece sheer tights for those cold night-outs by the Eiffel Tower.
Footwear
Comfortable footwear is very important for a city like Paris where you may have to walk quite a bit to reach anywhere, even the metro station. The streets are cobblestoned and that’s why boots, sneakers and ballet flats are favored by most locals.

Accessories
Even though it isn’t freezing cold in Paris in the winter, you can expect rainfall and the weather will be quite chilly. Leather gloves, a warm scarf, warm socks, knit hats, an umbrella, and a crossbody leather purse are essentials for your winter trip to Paris.
Paris Outfits: Spring
Spring is one of the best times for you to visit Paris. Though the mornings can be chilly, pleasant weather in the daytime will make your day quite enjoyable. I tend to go for a combination of warm and light clothes so that I don’t feel too stuffy.
Dresses/Tops
As spring is slightly warmer, you don’t have to layer up much and can easily flaunt your dresses, button-up shirts, and blouses. I prefer floral or neutral-toned dresses that can be styled with a light sweater, blazer, or the much-loved trench coat for the French girl aesthetic.
Jeans/Trousers
Classy denim jeans and trousers never go out of style in Paris. As they’re versatile, you can style plenty of outfits with the jeans and trousers that you carry, both for day outings and evening wear! It’s all about the mix and match in Paris, you see!
Light Knitwear
There’s a slight chill in the mornings and after it rains, and what’s better than a lightweight cozy sweater to complement your outfit of the day?
You can carry a cardigan to wear over your dress or style it with a pullover. If in doubt, go for a striped sweater!
Jackets/Coat
Light jackets and trench coats are ideal for the spring as they are classy yet super comfy. I prefer to pair the coat with a blouse and a pair of jeans for a day outing and with a black dress in the evening!
Footwear
Ballet flats and sneakers are your best friends if you’re planning a trip to Paris in the spring. These are comfortable footwear options that look chic with the proper outfit and allow you to walk a fair amount without paining your feet.
Accessories
As with all outfits, accessories according to the weather are important. For spring, some must-have accessories are a pair of stylish sunglasses, an umbrella for when it rains, and a crossbody purse or clutch bag that complements your look.
Paris Outfits: Summer
Unlike what you may think, summers in Paris aren’t too hot. Instead, they can be quite cool, to the point you may need a warm blazer or jacket. It may even rain anytime so you need to be prepared for that.
Dresses
Cottony, breezy dresses in light colors and breathable fabrics are preferred by most Parisian women for the summers. They are simplistic but look very elegant if you style it the French way!
The plus point is that dresses look apt regardless of whether you’re exploring in the daytime or going out for an evening.
Tops/Shirts
Light shirts, blouses, and tees are perfect for summer in Paris. You can style them with a trench coat or light blazer for days that are cooler.
The secret is to carry limited but classy pieces that you can mix and match for different outings.
Jeans/Pants
Jeans are always in trend in Paris and make for excellent aesthetic outfits paired with the correct blouses and tops.
For trousers, I prefer to go with neutral-toned linen or cotton ones as these fabrics are soft, breathable, and comfy for summer.
Jackets/Blazers/Trench Coat
Trust me, you may not feel like it now, but you will need layering in summer in Paris. A jacket/trench coat will protect you from those unpredictable rains and chills, and will suit your outfit too!
You can even carry a light knit cardigan to go with your outfit.
Footwear
For summers in Paris, the ideal footwear is ballet flats, sneakers, or flat sandals. Though you’ll come across many local women with closed-toe shoes/sandals, you can opt for open-toe ones for the summer.
Just make sure that the footwear you select is comfortable as you’ll have to walk (a lot!) in Paris.
For evenings, I suggest styling up your outfit with block heels or kitten heels.
Accessories
To top off your summer outfits, you need to accessorize. A pair of sunglasses, a purse or tote bag to carry your stuff, a hat to protect you from the harsh sun rays, and a chic necklace or bracelet are the perfect finishing touches to your attire.
What To Wear In Paris In the Evening/Nightout
Midi Dress
A black midi dress is a classic outfit option for evening wear in Paris. It can be styled with an overcoat or trench coat for the cooler days. You can pair it with kitten heels or boots to complete the look.
Midi Skirt
A stylish satin midi skirt paired with a button-up blouse in the summer or knit top in the winter will make for an elegant evening wear outfit in Paris. Pair it with block heels or boots for the final touch.
Blazer With Jeans
Jeans when paired with a blazer and stylish blouse are perfect for a casual night out in Paris. I prefer to style this outfit with low-block or kitten heels and a fancy clutch for the final look.
Ruffled Black Dress
A twist to your usual LBD, a ruffled black dress must be one of your options for a fancy dinner in Paris. To keep it elegant, you can pair it with black leggings and booties and you’re all ready!
Little Black Dress
The little black dress is without a doubt one of the top choices for your evening out. To keep it classy, pair it with sheer black tights or thigh-high boots and a fancy clutch.
Tweed Blazer With Jeans
A classy outfit you can put together, a tweed blazer pairs perfectly with dark jeans. You can style it with block heels or boots to complete the look.
What To Avoid Wearing In Paris
Stylish, minimalistic, neutral-toned outfits define Paris’ aesthetics and to avoid being the target of pickpockets or scams, you’ll need to avoid dressing up like a tourist. So, what should you not wear in Paris?
· Athleisure and sportswear: You’ll never come across Parisians in sportswear out and about in Paris. Leave your joggers, yoga pants, leggings, and other sportswear out when packing for your Paris trip.
· Flip flops: Avoid wearing flip flops as they’ll make you stand out as a tourist.
· High heels: Though heels look classy, they’re not quite practical for a city like Paris where you have to walk a lot. Opt for comfortable and elegant footwear like ballet flats or ankle boots. Block or kitten heels will pair perfectly with your evening wear.
· Shorts: Just like athleisure, Parisians tend to avoid wearing shorts and minis. It’s best to go for denim jeans and trousers if you don’t want to look like a tourist.
· Flashy items: You can add a pop of color to your outfit with a colored accessory/jewelry however make sure it’s not too flashy. Choose subtle pieces that are fashionable and complement your attire.
· Fanny packs and backpacks: The most effective way to out yourself as a tourist is to carry a fanny pack or a backpack. Swap it with a stylish crossbody bag/purse to carry your stuff.
· Printed shirts and jackets: This is an absolute giveaway that you’re a tourist. Avoid wearing anything printed with graphic labels of merch or locations.
